DG41
High Mechanical Strength And Load Bearing Capacity, Rigid, Safety Glass Interlayer
When human well-being and property protection against natural or man-made threats is of outmost importance, DG41 offers the durability and protection of a rigid interlayer, combined with the benefits of “standard” interlayers, such as UV screening, light transmission and noise abatement.
DG41 is a rigid (100 times more rigid than standard PVB film) and durable membrane (300 MPa of shear strength compared to 3 MPa for the standard one), specifically formulated for applications where increased interlayer rigidity and high glass adhesion are required.
It offers superior structural capacity versus standard interlayers, as it allows for the use of thinner safety glass panes for achieving the same load bearing performance. Additionally, it safeguards and assures the structural integrity of the laminate glazing and therefore, of the structure that the glazing is ultimately supporting.
Indicatively, typical applications for the SG41 interlayer film are:
- Structural glass
- Structures where the glass edges are exposed
- Glass flooring
- Staircases
- Balustrades
- Canopies
- Point-supported glass
- Protection against theft and vandalism
- Protection against explosions
- Protection against cyclone/typhoon
- Applications where glazing integrity and sustaining the load bearing capacity after breakage is important
It needs to be pointed that the DG41 interlayer exhibits even higher performance after breakage, when the constituent safety glass panes of the laminate glazing have undergone thermal treatment. VAS GLASS offers DG41 interlayer laminate glazing certified according to the architectural and safety European Norms EN 12600, EN 356, and EN 1063.
