WIRE-MESH GLASS
The Wire-mesh glass is created by embedding a metal wire grid (stainless steel) within a rolled glass sheet. Made of either clear or colored glass, wire-mesh glass represents an early attempt in creating a safety glass product.
Wire-mesh glass possesses characteristics such as higher elasticity and improved integrity upon breakage compared to float glass. Finally, additional to its decorative value, the inclusion of a stainless steel grid in the safety glass has been shown to bestow a level of resistance to fire, making wire-mesh glass a potential solution for such applications.
