Fire-resistant, wire-mesh glass is yet another VASGLASS product category for protection against fire.
A main cause of fire propagation within a building is the collapse of the glass panel early after the fire breaks out. In an attempt to avoid collapse, a wire-mesh has been inlaid into the glass mass, so as to retain the pieces interlocked within the frame. The wire-mesh is immersed equidistantly from both surfaces of the glass panel.
The fire-resistant, wire-mesh glass panel exhibits the following properties:
- Low combustion point
- Low fire-dispersal
- Minimal glass-surface diffusion of flames
- Minimal radiation emission for self-ignition
The above characteristics allow the fire resistant glass to maintain its integrity for a period of 60 minutes, thus creating an effective barrier against the spreading of the fire.
