The new AADE building, located at the former Athens Heart site, is a modern, sustainable, and resilient structure featuring glass solutions by VASGLASS.
The project αφορά the transformation of the existing Athens Heart shopping mall on Piraeus Street into a sustainable and innovative office complex, along with the addition of a new, independent five-storey building.
A core principle of the design is the management of the existing building stock and the conversion of the current shell into an energy-efficient building with new uses. The project follows contemporary principles of sustainability, resilience, and circular economy through the reuse of materials from the existing structure. It is worth noting that this is the first public building in Greece to achieve LEED Gold certification.
A key feature of the project is the use of VAS–PYRO insulating fire-resistant glass by VASGLASS, certified according to EN 1279 – 5:2018. The fire-resistant glazing was applied both internally and externally. In total, VASGLASS glazing systems were installed over approximately 2,700 sq.m. (Alupefection) and an additional 550 sq.m. (Metaloutec).
